San Mateo voters may decide on quarter-cent sales tax this November
San Mateo city leaders are moving forward with plans to place a quarter-cent sales tax measure before voters this November to help fund essential city services. Officials say the additional revenue would support priorities such as public safety, street maintenance, parks, and other municipal programs as the city faces rising operating costs and long-term budget challenges. If approved, the measure would increase the local sales tax rate by 0.25%, with funds remaining in San Mateo for local use. Residents will have the opportunity to weigh the proposal this fall as city officials make the case for maintaining service levels without deeper budget cuts. Read more here.
