Former GoPro Campus in San Mateo Approved for 222 New Homes

The San Mateo Planning Commission has approved a major residential redevelopment at 3000 Clearview Way, the hillside site overlooking Highway 92 that once served as GoPro's headquarters. Developers Harvest Properties and Stockbridge plan to build 222 for-sale homes, a mix of 149 townhome-style units and 73 detached single-family houses,  including 33 units set aside as deed-restricted affordable housing for moderate-income households. The roughly 21-acre property sits between College of San Mateo and The Heights by PulteGroup, about two miles from the Hillsdale Caltrain station and Hillsdale Shopping Center. Read more here.

Educator Housing Effort Grows With New Apartment Building

The Housing Endowment and Regional Trust (HEART) of San Mateo County, the nonprofit public-private partnership dedicated to expanding affordable and workforce housing countywide, has acquired the 74 unit Azara apartment community to support housing for local educators. The purchase adds to a growing regional push, seen already at Jefferson Union High School District's teacher housing in Daly City and Santa Clara County's educator complex in Palo Alto, to keep teachers and school staff living in the communities where they work amid sky-high Bay Area rents.
