🏠 Affordable mobile-home loans bring stability for San Mateo County families

A program by HEART has helped about 18 families in San Mateo County move out of RVs or substandard housing and into proper mobile homes, offering low-interest, 30-year loans to make homeownership within reach even on modest incomes. Recipients say the new homes mean better bathrooms, safer heating, and more stable living conditions for their families. As the program rolls on, HEART hopes to re-invest repaid loans into more homes, meaning this could help even more neighbors looking for affordable options. 💧 Foster City schedules permanent repairs to long-broken water main

Crews in Foster City will be repairing a water main this week that originally broke in 2024, with the work expected to last about five days. The city says it does not expect interruptions to water service during the repairs, but asks residents to keep an eye on official updates and limit outdoor irrigation as a precaution. Once completed, the work aims to prevent further emergencies and ensure safe, reliable water delivery for years to come. Woodlands Market to replace former Draeger’s in Downtown San Mateo

Downtown San Mateo is getting a welcome neighborhood grocery again: Woodlands Market will occupy the old Draeger’s site at 222 E. 4th Avenue, anchoring a new five-story development. The new store promises about 19,000 sq ft of grocery space plus a bakery, café, and prepared foods and aims to give residents a full-service option after the grocery gap left earlier this year. Alongside the market, the building will include offices and 10 below-market housing units, a mix that developers hope will support both convenience and community-minded growth. For many locals, the arrival of Woodlands Market is a sign that downtown San Mateo is ready for a fresh chapter of everyday convenience and urban renewal.
