San Mateo 19th Avenue & Fashion Island Improvement Project Advancing
San Mateo is progressing on a major multimodal improvements project along 19th Avenue and Fashion Island Boulevard, including plans for protected bike lanes, pedestrian enhancements, and traffic safety upgrades between Pacific Boulevard and Mariners Island Boulevard. After extensive community outreach and final design meetings, plans are nearing completion ahead of a City Council review, with construction anticipated in 2027.

This project promises safer crossings and bike connections that link key neighborhoods and enhance access to the Hayward Park Caltrain station. The redesign also aims to ease congestion and make transit, walking, and cycling more comfortable for all users. Read more here.

Burlingame Mayor Won’t Seek Re-Election
After nearly 16 years in office, Burlingame Mayor Michael Brownrigg announced he will not run for re-election, opening up leadership opportunities in District 3. HEAD WEST Marketplace returns to downtown San Mateo this weekend!

HEAD WEST Marketplace is back in Downtown San Mateo, once again transforming South B Street into a lively open-air marketplace filled with Local Makers, Crafters, Artists, Designers and Vintage Merchants. With the street closed to cars, it creates a fun, family-friendly atmosphere to shop small, support local creatives and enjoy live music!

HEAD WEST takes place on the 3rd Saturday of each month from March through December, making it a great weekend outing downtown. Learn more here!
